Light curtain PSENopt II

The robust light curtain

Light curtains PSENopt II with mirror column

Light curtains PSENopt II provide safe intervention in the production process and provide finger and hand protection, depending on the requirement.. The first Type 3 light curtains are specifically designed for applications up to PL d of EN/IEC 61496-1. Type 4 versions are also available for applications up to PL e of EN/IEC 61496-1/-2.

As the units are so robust, PSENopt II provide protection against shock, collision and vibration and so are suitable for use in rugged industrial environments. The operator can evaluate the essential causes and system defects responsible for the machine stop by means of the LEDs. Downtimes are reduced as a result.

The light curtains are available in lengths of 150 mm to 1800 mm and can be combined with a wide range of accessories. PSENopt II can be connected directly to the PDP67 due to the 5-pin connection.

Industry uses of light curtains

Now you can configure the safe small control systems PNOZmulti 2 simply and with software protection! For safe monitoring of mechanical presses, you can now rely on the new dual-pole semiconductor output module PNOZ m EF 8DI2DOT.

Two safety outputs serve the actuation of press safety valves or other actuators that require dual-pole switching. The eight inputs can be configured with an individual filter time to enable correct operation with a variety of input signals. The tow test pulse outputs are used for detection of shorts across contacts.

Certified press blocks in the software tool PNOZmulti Configurator render the use of PNOZ m EF 8DI2DOT easy and economical. If you choose between press blocks for operating modes, rotary cam arrangement, light curtain or pulse detection. One particular advantage is the scope for configuring a separate module program (mIQ). This then run locally on the module with very short cycle times of approx. 3 ms. The output actuation is also very fast. Thus you benefit from very short reaction times <8 ms.

The new semiconductor output module PNOZ m EF 8DI2DOT at a glance:

  • Maximum safety by simple configuration of press functions using certified software blocks with module program technology (mIQ) for each module
  • Rapid reaction times (< 8 ms) and short cycle times of approx. 3 ms: Press application is processed directly in the module
  • Fine module-specific adjustment
  • Particularly well suited for retrofit thanks to narrow width 22.5 mm
  • Depending on the application up to PL e / SIL CL 3

Applications of PSENopt II light curtains

Protect your workers and your capital goods with the light curtains PSENopt II! The light curtains protect the hazardous areas with an invisible protected field of infrared beams. If the light beam is interrupted, a safe shutdown command is issued immediately..

PSENopt II are available for finger and hand protection and are therefore especially suitable for manual workstations, access guarding, inserting/removing materials or materials handling next to robots.

Applications of PSENopt II

PNOZmulti 2 – with decentralised expansion

The control systems PNOZmulti 2 can be expanded using link modules for decentralisation and for safe communication between multiple base units. You can now easily implement safety functions on more complex plant and machinery!!

  • Decentrally in the field: The PDP link module PNOZ m EF PDP Link serves as the interface for the decentralised modules PDP67 (to protection type IP67) to the base unit. The signals from the connected sensors are directly forwarded to the base unit from the field for further processing. With up to 16 PDP67 modules on one base unit, the number of sensors that can be connected increases by 64. This is what an economical solution looks like!
  • Complex tasks – a team effort: The multi-link module PNOZ m EF Multi Link enables the straightforward, safe data exchange between several base units. Thanks to the modular design of PNOZmulti 2, you can achieve various topologies on one base unit with up to four link modules. As a result, you can connect several PNOZmulti units to implement safety functions for complex plant and machinery.
